The perfect fishing weekend in Trentino

Experience a weekend of "full immersion" fishing at the Pineta: three nights in our Chalet Fishing Lodge will be enough to experience the emotions that one can feel from fishing.

There will be two guided tours with our Fishing Guide Alberto Concini. During the first, dedicated to dry fly fishing in the gorge of Santa Giustina, you can test your flies by catching marbled trout and combative brown trout. On your way back, you can enjoy an aperitif in the Cantina del Bruno: traditional food and local wines!
The second expedition will take place along the Pescara torrent, where you can attempt to capture marbled trout with the dry or spinning technique.

What are the best spots for your fishing holidays in Trentino?

Well, you're spoiled with choices. The Val di Non is a mosaic of unique environments, each characterized by a crystal clear lake, a river with wild shores, a stream that runs fast into the canyons or quiet lakes where you can listen to the serenity of nature.

Lakes

Lake Tovel is one of the most spectacular destinations in the entire valley: its crystal clear waters are populated by native charr, cobite barbatello and black pudding. Here the most satisfactory fishing is by boat; from the shore you will not get great results, especially in summer. It is forbidden to use canoes and belly boats, boats authorized by the Park and registered in the municipal register are permitted.

In the lake of Santa Giustina, a very wide basin at the bottom of the valley between apple orchards and small villages, it is also possible to go fishing at night. Here the waters are populated by carp, perch and trout.

Emerald Lake, whose name is inspired by the colour of its waters, is particularly suitable for beginners. Here trout are fed weekly and families can picnic and lie in the sun.

Streams and rivers

The canyons of Val di Non will give that extra bit of adrenaline to your fishing holidays in Trentino: between the narrow and high walls carved by the water the most coveted catches are hidden! Definitely a unique experience to tell upon your return.

The Noce river, divided into three fishing zones, has very different locations populated by marbled trout, hybrids and brown trout. Here you must wear a pair of leg boots or waders with a mountain boot so that you can move easily on the banks of the river. Along the Noce river you can find a trophy area where you can keep a garment over 50 cm!

Everything you need to know to fish in Trentino

To fish in Trentino, a fishing licence is required. Those who have not obtained it, are still able to buy the tourist permit for amateur fishing, free of charge and valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

In any case, a fishing permit is required; the permit can be issued on a daily, weekly or annual basis and can be purchased from retailers in the area.

Opening, closing and other useful info

Here are the opening times of fishing in Trentino, in particular in Val di Non. However, we recommend that you always consult the fishermen's association for any changes.

January: Lake of S. Giustina, Mollaro

February: 1st Sunday, Torrente Noce, Tresenica and its tributaries

March: 1st Sunday opening of streams and waters not mentioned

April: Tresenica stream, No Kill area

May: Lake Tovel, Lake Smeraldo, Lake Ruffré

The closure of the fishery for all waters is set for 30 September. Only in the Santa Giustina basin is it permitted until 30 September (except for salmonids and rainbow trout). In Val di Non it is allowed to fish from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. Night fishing is allowed only in Lake S. Giustina, for eel and tench from July 1 to September 30; for carp from July 1 to October 31.

To fish in the area it is required to comply with the fishing regulations of the Autonomous Province of Trento. Once on the spot the fisherman will have to mark the day, the fishing area and morning or afternoon depending on the time of day. Immediately after the catch, the fisherman must mark the species of salmonid caught and the area of the catch. In case of catch & release, the length of the salmonid must also be marked. The number of possible catches is available in the associations' regulations. Finally, the fisherman is required to keep the fish held at the fishing place until the end of the activity.
